The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 378

Isaac had anticipated Rachel's call would be about something else. He had been in high spirits and had looked forward to hearing the icy beauty's voice. But instead, he was confronted with a barrage of questions. Her inquiries were about Matthew, which showed how much she still cared about him. This only intensified Isaac's resentment toward Matthew.

Despite that, he forced a smile and said, "Rachel, I've honored every promise I made to you. I love you and wouldn't risk ruining your opinion of me over someone insignificant. I didn't do anything." She said coldly, "If it wasn't you, then who was it?"

Isaac silently cursed Levi's incompetence. He smiled and said, "You know my reputation. If I wanted to deal with Matthew, a single word from me could end his life. If I were behind it, he'd already be dead."

She paused before saying, "No matter what you say, let me remind you that the Grants and my family must remain unharmed. I expect you to keep your promise." With that, she hung up.

Isaac slammed the phone down and roared, "Rachel, you got angry with me because of another fucking man? Fine. If Matthew is the cause of your anger, then I'll just kill him. Once he's dead, you'll have no choice but to be mine."

Fabian stepped forward. "Mr. Wood, I can head to Silverbrook Village right now with a few men and kill his whole family."noveldrama

Isaac shook his head. "No, don't act too rashly. We need to handle this discreetly. Let's wait for the right moment to strike."

...

On the sixth floor of the Gembrooke Building, Tracy's face was clouded with worry. When Matthew returned, she told him about the problems they were facing.

"We need top-notch specialists for the laboratory. We posted job openings online, but no one applied. The nearby colleges think we lack credentials. Several headhunting companies in the talent market aren't even taking our calls. What should we do?"

He recalled that Rachel had years of medical industry experience and might have valuable contacts. "Why don't you ask Rachel for help? She should know some people who could be interested."

She sighed. "She's under a lot of pressure since her company shifted focus to traditional medicine.

"She's facing various forms of exclusion and suppression. Two of her modern medicine products have already been discontinued due to insufficient raw materials."

The news took Matthew aback. He looked at Tracy and said solemnly, "Tell me. Why did Rachel suddenly decide to break up with me?"

Tracy's face darkened. She had heard Rachel's reasons for the breakup, which involved the fates of both the Carter and the Grant families, but she was hesitant to tell him the truth. "She might... might think your personalities clash."

He could tell there was more to it. Rachel's proud and aloof demeanor made her generally cold toward men she didn't find impressive.

Yet, she had been willing to engage

with him in the office, which

suggested acceptance. Despite his lack of understanding of women, he trusted his instincts. A simple personality clash didn't seem like a convincing explanation.

His mind was in turmoil as he glanced at his phone and noticed it was almost time to pick up Lorraine.

So, he turned to Tracy and said, "Handle the company issues and devise a plan. If you can't solve them, I'll step in. I need to pick up my daughter."

Since it was Tracy's first time

managing a company, she found the challenges overwhelming. She didn't expect Matthew to prioritize picking up Lorraine, as if the company's issues were secondary.

She said, "Our company needs talent and raw materials from the medical companies. There's a medical industry forum tomorrow. If you can find a supplier for the raw materials and recruit a few talents, it will solve most of our issues."

Matthew waved at her. "I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I'm heading out now."

...

At the kindergarten's entrance, the crowd consisted of elderly people waiting for their grandchildren, with a few mothers stopping by to pick up their children.

Young men picking up their kids was a rare sight. Matthew stood out in the crowd like a lone wolf among a herd of sheep.

He arrived early and passed the time with a hint of boredom when a familiar figure suddenly appeared. He was surprised to see Tessa and wondered what she was doing there.

She wore sunglasses and sported big, wavy hair as she approached him. "I heard about your breakup with Rachel. I always knew she wasn't genuinely interested in you. She was just using you."

His expression turned icy, and his voice was even colder. "My affairs are none of your business. Leave."

Tessa had plenty to say, but Matthew wasn't giving her a chance. After a moment of thought, she decided to get straight to the point.

"I know I was wrong. I'm willing to face the consequences. Since our divorce, I've realized just how great you are. You're a remarkable man."
