Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Chapter 491

Was it possible that there was truly no way back for us? Just as I was teetering on the edge of despair, my phone chimed with a notification. Trembling, I swiped it open.

"I'm sorry, Evelyn. This is all my fault. I don't deserve to love you right now because... I'm not worthy of you. You deserve a better life, not to be held back by someone like me. So, please, forget about me. I wish you... a bright future ahead." My eyes widened in disbelief.

"Ethan, you bastard. Get out here!" I screamed at my phone. My voice was breaking. But no matter how loudly I called for him, there was no response.

What a coward! He didn't even have the guts to tell me face-to-face! Sneaking around with Vivian-what kind of man did that make him?

The thought of it made my blood boil. I shot to my feet. I was not just going to sit here and accept this. I would find him and make him explain himself.

I stormed out of the office and headed straight for the newly rebuilt Grayson Group headquarters. But when I arrived, the receptionist informed me that Ethan had left the country and hadn't informed anyone when he would be back.

I froze, feeling as though ice water had been poured over me. He was avoiding me, wasn't he? I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I dialed his number, only to find it was disconnected.

A wave of pain crashed over me. I collapsed at the entrance of the building and sobbed uncontrollably. Passerby began to stare and whisper, "Isn't that Evelyn?"

"Yeah, why is she crying here?"

"Who knows? We won't understand what's happening."

I ignored them and stared blankly at my phone screen.

Ethan was a liar! He promised we would never be apart, and now he was gone without a trace. What did I do wrong? Did all these years of being in love mean nothing to him?

As evening felt and the city lights came alive, wandered aimlessly through the streets. I didn't know how far had walked or where I was going Exhausted, I finally sankonto a bench. Tears were soaking through my clothes.

Suddenly, my phone chimed again. It was a message from an unfamiliar number.

"Evelyn, I know you're hurting right now, but you have to stay strong! You're the head of Evelyn Studio and a rising star in the fashion industry. You don't need that scumbag to

shine. You'll still live an amazing life!"

I stared at the message in shock. Who was this? How did they know what I was going through?noveldrama

After some hesitation, I replied, "Thank you for your concern. May I ask who this is?"

The reply came swiftly. "I'm a friend... and an admirer. Trust me, I'll always be there for you, no matter what happens."

The sincerity in their words stirred something in my heart. To think there's someone out there who cared about me like this.

Even though they were a stranger, their message felt like a soothing balm on my wounded heart.

I fought back my tears and replied, "Thank you. Your encouragement means so much to me. I'll work harder and won't let you down." After sending the message, I let out a deep breath.
