My Four Miraculous Treasures

Chapter 25

Being on the receiving end of Jasper's oppressive gaze, Tyson tensed up immediately. It seemed something was going on between Lara and his boss. Why else would a single phone call concern Jasper so much? "How can I be of help, Ms. Smith?" Tyson asked casually.

Willow then gave a rough account of what happened over the phone.

Tyson replied, "Alright, I'll testify for you right away."

When he hung up, he immediately noticed the gloominess on his boss's face. Even the raging storm outside couldn't compare to the coldness of Jasper's gaze.

Tyson quickly explained, "Sir, I saw Dale White harassing Ms. Lara in the first-floor lobby yesterday afternoon. It was a serious breach of our company's workplace policy, so I taught him a lesson and fired him afterward. However, someone came and broke his leg. Now, he's suing Ms. Lara for destroying his family and causing his injury. As a key witness, I must offer my testimonial."

Tyson proceeded to give Jasper a detailed explanation of the whole incident. After all, he was dealing with Jasper's potential romantic partner. He didn't want to leave any space for misunderstandings about his relationship with Lara.

Tyson was Jasper's number-one aide, so he naturally had to cover for himself. Aside from his competence, the only other way to gain Jasper's trust was through words.

If he didn't resolve this misunderstanding, it would deepen from here on out.

Finally, Jasper understood why Lara was seeking Tyson's help. It seemed he had been overthinking.

The woman didn't have the guts to seduce his assistant-yet.

"Go straight to the police station. Make sure everyone involved is taken there for questioning," instructed Jasper as he leaned back into his car seat.

It was just a trivial incident, yet everyone in the company knew about it.

"Understood," replied Tyson. He stepped on the gas pedal.

Soon, Jasper and Tyson entered the police station.

Jasper immediately noticed Lara sitting next to him. She hung her head, and her tiny face was filled with gloom. Her red lips were pursed slightly, and her breathing was erratic. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she had been wrongly accused. She felt exhausted. Her soul seemed to have been sapped from her body.

Seeing her in such a sorry state, Jasper frowned slightly.

Throughout her journey to the police station, Willow had been fighting with Dale's wife. She felt like she was about to die from a stroke. To think she'd bump into such an irrational and unreasonable person-what rotten luck! When she looked up, she noticed Jasper's striking figure as he sat down next to her. His presence was so overwhelming, one could never miss him. The moment he appeared, everything else would be overshadowed by his being. Willow felt her heart sink the moment she saw his cold and attractive face. Her heart began to panic.

What was Jasper doing here?

In the next second, she noticed Tyson, who was standing next to Jasper. She hastily got up and greeted him. "Mr. Ward, I'm so glad to see you here."

Seeing her sole witness was finally here, her eyes lit up immediately.

She then stole a glance at Jasper. She was immediately reminded of the scene from earlier-how she made out with him in the corridor, and the numbness she felt all over her body. Her heartbeat grew erratic, and she immediately grew flustered. Jasper's gaze penetrated her. For a split second, their eyes met.noveldrama

And yet, a split second was all it took for Willow's heart to start racing. She immediately averted her gaze, and pretended to stare at her feet.

"Lara Smith, we need to get you registered with your ID card," the officer called.

"I'm coming."

Willow hurried to the counter, where she presented Lara's ID card. She was nervous-rightfully so, as she was using her mother's ID. There was a chance she might get caught.

Sure enough, the officer took a look at the card and looked up at her face skeptically. "Your age doesn't match up to your face."
