Luna Aurora 11
Aurora adjusted the hood of her cloak, her fingers trembling slightly as she gripped the edge of the fabric. The wind carried the scent of the forest-pine and damp earth-but beneath it lingered the acrid tang of her nerves. Beside her, her mother kept her posture straight,
her face calm, though Aurora could sense the tension in her stiff movements.noveldrama
They had been walking for hours, each step carrying them closer to the border of the neighboring pack. The land around them had grown wilder, with thick underbrush and ancient trees that seemed to loom over the path like silent sentinels. Aurora's heart raced as they approached the boundary.
The scent of wolves was unmistakable now, an invisible line warning outsiders that this territory was claimed. Aurora hesitated, her instincts screaming caution. This was the moment they would be challenged or rejected. Her mother glanced at her, offering a small nod of encouragement.
"We've come this far," her mother murmured. "It's time."
Aurora took a shaky breath and stepped forward, allowing her scent to cross the border. They stood in silence for several moments before the sound of snapping twigs and rustling leaves reached their ears. Figures emerged from the shadows-three wolves, their forms partially shifted, eyes gleaming with suspicion.
"State your business," one of them growled, his voice deep and rough. His gaze lingered on Aurora and her mother, his posture radiating caution.
Aurora lowered her hood, meeting the wolf's gaze with a calm she didn't entirely feel. "We seek sanctuary," she said, her voice steady. "My mother and I are rogues, and we mean no harm."
The wolf's eyes narrowed, his lip curling slightly. "Sanctuary isn't something we offer lightly. You'll need to speak to the Alpha."
Another wolf, younger and less guarded, leaned toward his companion. "Alpha Cassian doesn't usually turn anyone away," he murmured, though it was loud enough for Aurora to catch. The first wolf shot him a sharp look, silencing him. Aurora braced herself as the wolves exchanged glances before one of them nodded. "Follow us. Don't stray."
They walked for what felt like an eternity, the dense forest eventually giving way to open fields and small clusters of houses. The pack's territory was vast, larger than Aurora had imagined. The heart of the pack-a sprawling estate surrounded by training grounds and communal spaces-came into view. It was bustling with activity, wolves of all ranks moving freely and interacting with an ease that surprised her.
The guards led them to the estate's main building, where they were ushered into a wide, open hall. Sunlight streamed through tall windows, casting patterns on the polished floors. At the far end of the room stood a man-tall, broad-shouldered, and commanding, yet with an air of warmth that set him apart from Fenrir's cold authority. His dark eyes studied Aurora and her mother as they approached, his expression unreadable.
The wolves flanking him stepped aside as he took a step forward. "I am Cassian, Alpha of this pack," he said, his voice calm and measured. "I've been told you seek sanctuary."
Aurora nodded, her heart pounding. "Yes, Alpha. We've come from a great distance. We have no pack and no place to call home."
