Alpha Fenrir and Aurora Chapter 361
The wind howled through the trees of the Moonlit Forest, carrying with it the scent of danger. Elyra's camp was on high alert, her warriors ready for whatever came next. The war with Dain was no longer just a distant threat it was now a reality, and each passing hour seemed to bring them closer to a battle they couldn't afford to lose.
Elyra paced nervously near the edge of the camp, her mind whirling with the weight of the decisions ahead. Cassian and Fenrir had already begun rallying the remaining packs, preparing for the worst. But despite their efforts, an unsettling feeling gnawed at her. It wasn't just fear-it was the certainty that Dain was becoming something far worse than any of them could have anticipated.
It was Selene's voice that broke her from her thoughts. The Luna had approached silently, as always, her presence a calm contrast to the chaos in Elyra's mind.
"They've caught a scout," Selene said, her tone deliberate. "One of Dain's."
Elyra's heart skipped a beat. "What did he say?"
Selene's eyes were dark with concern as she handed Elyra a scroll, the wax seal still intact. "It's not good. But we need to hear it for ourselves."
Elyra opened the scroll with a shaky hand, her pulse quickening as she read the words inside. The message was simple but chilling.
"Dain is marching on the Silver Vale. He will bring the storm with him."
"That's where we'll make our stand," Elyra muttered under her breath, her thoughts racing. The Silver Vale was the heart of their alliance, a place of immense strategic importance. If Dain attacked, it could destroy everything they had built.
Selene placed a hand on Elyra's shoulder, her voice soft but firm. "It's not just an attack, Elyra. It's a declaration of war. Dain is coming for everything. For you. For the shard."
Elyra swallowed hard, trying to steady her breathing. The thought of her brother coming for her-coming for them-felt like a cold knife twisting in her chest. "He's coming for the Silver Vale. But why?"
Selene's gaze darkened. "Because he can. And because the shard is pushing him toward something... darker. His control over it is growing. I can feel it. He is becoming a vessel for pure shadow."
The words hit Elyra like a blow to the chest. The shard had always been a source of great power-power she had never fully understood. But now, it seemed as though it was slowly consuming Dain, twisting him into something unrecognizable. "I won't let him destroy everything we've worked for," Elyra said, her voice a mixture of resolve and desperation. "We need to act quickly."
Selene nodded. "We will, but we must be careful. The power of the shard isn't something you can fight directly-not without a cost. You're already feeling its influence, Elyra. The more you fight it, the more it will demand from you."
Elyra clenched her fists, the weight
of Selene's words sinking in. She could feel the pull of the shard even now, like an unseen force tugging at her soul. The vision from the night before still haunted her-Dain, standing alone amidst the
destruction, his eyes hollow and filled with darkness.
"We don't have time," Elyra said, her voice tight. "We need to stop him before it's too late."
Just as she spoke, the sharp crack of a branch breaking caught their attention. A figure emerged from the trees, moving swiftly through the underbrush. Elyra instinctively reached for her dagger, but the figure's movements were too quick. "Hold your weapons," Selene whispered, her voice calm but commanding. "Let him speak."
The scout was disheveled, his clothes torn from the rough terrain, his face drawn with exhaustion. He was one of Dain's soldiers, but something in his eyes told Elyra that he was no longer loyal to her brother.
The scout dropped to his knees, panting heavily, and spoke in a voice full of fear. "You have to understand... He's not the brother you remember. He's... something else now. I've seen it with my own eyes. Dain's control over the shard... it's changing him." Elyra's heart clenched at his words. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"He's not just using the shard anymore," the scout continued, his voice trembling. "He's becoming the shard. It's... it's eating him alive, changing him into something... something monstrous. It's too late for him. It's too late for all of us."
Elyra felt a cold shiver run down her spine. The scout's words were like a death sentence for Dain-and for her. She had hoped, prayed even, that there was still a way to save him. But now, it seemed like that hope was slipping further and further away.
"He's going to the Silver Vale. He plans to destroy it-burn it to the ground," the scout said, his voice barely above a whisper. "And if he does... if he succeeds... nothing will stop him."
Elyra turned to Selene, her face pale. "We have to stop him. Now."
Selene's gaze was filled with sorrow,
but there was no hesitation in her words. "We will, but you must prepare yourself, Elyra. The closer you get to the shard, the more it will control you. And the more it controls you, the harder it will be to save him-or yourself."
Elyra closed her eyes, her heart heavy with the knowledge that she was running out of time. Dain was no longer the brother she knew. He was something darker, something more dangerous than anything she could have imagined. And if she couldn't stop him now, there would be no future for any of them.
As the scout stumbled away, Elyra felt a surge of dark energy ripple through the air. The Moon Shard at her side burned with intensity, and the sky above seemed to darken in response. Her vision blurred, and she was suddenly overwhelmed by a haunting image.
In the vision, Dain stood alone on a ruined battlefield, surrounded by nothing but darkness. His eyes were filled with an emptiness that sent chills down her spine. And in that moment, Elyra knew: Dain had become the shadow he once feared.
