Chapter 1285
Right then, the butler drove the car out from the garage at the back.
But just as Lauren turned to the car, Yvette cried out in a daze, "Daddy..."
Then, she started sobbing.,
"Mommy, pain... pain..."
"I feel sick, Mommy..."
They were both shocked to see her holding her little tummy and even bursting into tears. Lauren quickly put her hand over hers and comforted, "Mommy's here, Yvette, don't worry. I'll take you to a doctor now!"
Meanwhile, Willy took Yvette into his arms and said, "Come on, get in the car!"
With that, they rushed to the hospital and ran to the fourth floor in one breath - a layer of sweat formed on Willy's forehead from all the running. "Doctor, doctor..."
"Don't worry, Yvette, Daddy's here. You'll be fine!" His face blanched seeing his daughter sweating profusely, semi-conscious.
"Doctor!"
Soon, a pediatric stretcher trolley came and sent her into the emergency room. Seeing the suddenly lit-up red light outside the door, Lauren burst into tears.
"How did it come to this? Yvette... will she be alright?"
"I should've taken her to the hospital earlier!"
"It's all my fault. Why didn't I bring her over earlier?"
"Yvette!"
Standing by the door, seeing Lauren was about to collapse as she bit down her trembling hands, Willy pulled her into his arms, his eyes red-rimmed from oncoming tears that instant.
"Don't be like this, Laurie, don't scare yourself. Everything's going to be okay!"
He was just as shocked when Yvette suddenly convulsed, covered in a cold sweat, and even fell unconscious on their journey to the hospital. "She'll definitely be okay! I have Carson come over. He knows the best doctors and has the best resources, the best medicine. Our baby girl's going to be okay..."
"Willy!"
Willy comforted her as he called Carson, his hand shaking so badly that he could barely hold his phone.
However, the more worried he was, the more his phone rang. But he couldn't care less about anyone else right then, directly hanging up Cloud's call several times.
Lauren sympathized with her at first but seeing she kept harassing Willy with calls, rendering his phone battery plunging low, her initially uneasy heart turned vexed then.
"What the hell does this woman want? When is she going to stop?"
Right as she finished her words, Willy's phone vibrated again, and he couldn't help sighing. "I'm going to take this!"
He turned to the corridor on the other side before pressing the answer button, and cries of mourn came from the other end of the line just like before. But he couldn't care less about her anymore this time.
"Cloud! Stop calling me! My daughter's sick; I don't have the time to deal with your child! Why don't you use this time to find a doctor or someone else instead?"
With that, he ended the call directly.
When he returned, the red light switched off, and he and Lauren charged to the entrance. "Doctor, how's my child? Is she okay? What's going on with her?" "Luckily, she was sent here in time. Her condition has been stabilized for now!"
They were visibly relieved when they heard the news, but then a detail had them worrying again. "For now?"
Willy turned grim as he stepped forward. "What do you mean? What's wrong with my daughter?"
"Don't worry. Her symptoms seem to indicate colic, triggering a high fever. She fainted because she is still very young, has a low immune system, and couldn't withstand the pain. As for exactly what caused it, we still don't know. She's doing fine for now, and the colic and gastrospasms have soothed. We can't confirm for now if the colic is continuous or intermittent or if it will happen again. Well have to observe for some time. Well give her a detailed examination once her fever has broken."
The doctor looked at Willy and Lauren and then pushed his glasses before continuing.
"A friendly reminder, every minor illness in a child can lead to something major. They'll be fussy when they're unwell. Try to be patient, but more importantly, spend as much time with her as you can. Care and attention will give her courage and security, and she'll more likely cooperate during checkups and treatments! Let her stay in the hospital for today. You can feed her soup or something light once she wakes up. Don't give her anything too solid or hard to digest for now. We'll discuss further tomorrow when her fever has broken!"
"Okay, thank you, doctor, thank you!"
After sending Yvette and Lauren to the ward, Willy checked with Carson. He returned to see his beloved sitting dazedly by the bed, looking at Yvette with tears pooling in her eyes, not daring even to blink. He didn't dare imagine how she managed to survive the last three years, raising their baby girl alone. Willy went up and hugged her, holding the back of her head.
"Don't worry; she'll be okay! Carson said children might have a weaker immune system, but they can recover very quickly. They've put an ointment patch on her navel, and it's working very well. Don't be too anxious, or you'll scare her when she
wakes up! Yvette's conditio
be a special case; Carson said it's probably similar to infantile colic. So it's technically not even an illness. We'll just have to make sure her abdomen stays warm and massage that area!"
"Is she really okay? She had never reacted like this before!"
She still smiled even when Yvette was affected with jaundice. Lauren's face was still ashen, unable to contain her tears, having never experienced such a situation.
Similarly, Willy's heart ached for her, having never seen her so fragile before.
"Everything will be fine with me around. Don't cry anymore. Yvette will wake up soon! We should bring some clothes and other stuff over since she's staying in the hospital, shouldn't we?"
Coming to her senses, Lauren shot right up.
"Oh, yeah, I totally forgot about it. Goodness me... I'll have them bring it over. Things here aren't clean enough; Yvette definitely won't be used to it!" Lauren mumbled as she circled twice before pulling her phone out dazedly going outside.
Looking at the little one sleeping on the bed, Willy bent over and brushed the hair on the corner of her forehead, finally quietly letting out the sigh that had been stuck in his throat as he felt her warm, even breathing.
How great that his baby girl was fine!
He didn't know how long he had been staring blankly at Yvette before it suddenly struck him Lauren had been gone for quite a while. He got up and sensed there seemed to be some commotion outside.
What was going on? Wasn't it just a few instructions? Why hadn't she come back?
Seeing that Yvette was still asleep, he called the nurse over.
"Please help me look after her for a while. Don't let her leave this room before I return!"
"Okay! Doctor Vives has already instructed, don't worry, Mr. Bowles!"
"Alright!"
With that, Willy glanced behind his shoulder at Yvette before rushing out, thinking of hurrying back. But just as he left the ward, he heard a familiar voice coming from the corridor, walking toward it.
Right as Lauren ended her call, Cloud blocked her path, and she couldn't leave for a long time.
"What the hell do you want?"
"It's you, isn't it? You definitely did it on purpose. You lied to Willy. You deliberately didn't want him to see Dory, didn't you? It's definitely you!"
"How many times do I have to tell you my child is also sick?! I can't be bothered with you guys. Can you please stop blocking my path? Why are you in my way when you should be looking after your sick child?"
Lauren grew more and more anxious as Cloud wouldn't stop pestering her. She couldn't believe how strong Cloud was, unable to barge through her the few times she tried, ruffling her hair, vexed.
"Dory's leukemia is eating her away; she's dying. Why won't you let Willy see her? She's going to die any minute, yet you won't let him see her, you evil b*tch!"
"I didn't! My child is sick too! What, is he supposed to not care about our daughter? You may have the time to waste here; I'm in a hurry to go back to my daughter, so move!"
"Coincidence? I think not! You must

have had your child pretend to be sick to deceive him so he won't go and see Dory, you evil b*tch! My Dory is on the verge of dying; how
can you be so cruel? What, is your child also dying soon? Do you not have a heart? Why won't she just actually get sick and die?"
"What are you talking about? Don't you curse my child! Oh, so your daughter's a big deal when she's sick, but mine isn't? Who's the evil one here? Willy's my child's biological father!"
"But your child isn't dead!"
Livid, Lauren shoved Cloud forcefully. Meanwhile, Willy was shocked and speechless by what he heard the moment he got close. Never did he think Cloud would say something like that. Seeing
Lauren livid with rage, he turned grim instantly as well.noveldrama
"Are you even hearing yourself?"
Coming back to her senses, Cloud bawled again.
"Willy? You're here? S-sorry, I was too anxious and spoke without thinking! Please go and see Dory; she's really ill. She wants to see Daddy. She
wants-"
"That's enough!"
Willy lashed out at her for the first time as he flung her away.
"I've told you and your children countless times I'm not their father! I've also warned and reminded you more than once! Dory isn't a child

that doesn't know anything anymore. I kept distancing and- clarifying myself, but why do you keep instilling the idea in her mind? Cloud, I've told you before, helping you is no different from me doing charity! People would at least thank me on the surface when I do charity, but look at what you're doing. You're cursing my child!" Content belongs
How infuriating. He had felt bad for her at first, but recalling Lauren had even suggested that he go and see Dory instead, no amount of words in this world was enough to describe his rage right then. It was an understatement to say that he had fed his kindness to the wolves.
"Don't you know what's more important right now?" She said it herself that Dory already had one foot in the grave, yet she still had the mood to make a scene here instead of being by Dory's side!
And the impression he had of Cloud for being beautiful, gentle, strong, and kind despite her misfortunes had shattered altogether nearly instantly...
